Search Instructions
You must have JavaScript enabled to use this feature.
Basically there are 2 steps involved in the search interface:
- Building a demographic
- Getting results from the built demographic
Step 1 - Building a demographic
In this step, you build a list of people based on their answers to particular questions. You choose which questions, and hence which answers, and compound them to then use in Step 2.
- Use the first drop down box to select a question to query and click [Add question to query].
- Depending on what type of question it was, you will be able to perform certain actions. There are 3 main types of questions in this survey: text answers, multiple choice questions, and multi-answer questions. Their descriptions and individual instructions are as follows:
- For text answers, you can choose check to see if somebody answered the question or not and enter a single keyword if you want to narrow down your search.
- If it was a multiple choice question (particpant had to choose one answer from multiple options) then you will be shown a list of the available answers. You can then tick one or more answers. An example of a multiple choice question is "What is your age?" and you, as the searcher can choose multiple answers like "31-40" & "41-50" & "51-60". These will be treated as an "or" condition, hence submitters whose ages either 31-40 or 41-50 or 51-60 will be searched (ie all of the selected answers).
- if the question was a multi-answer question (participant could choose multiple answers from multiple options), it works exactly the same as the multiple choice question description above. An example of this type of question is "Please tick any of the following that make it difficult for you to maintain your health and wellbeing and/or access services?". If you choose multiple answers within the same question area, it treats it as an or condition. Eg, if you selected "Anxiety/Depression" & "Motivation", the results would show people who answered either one, or the other, or both. If you want to narrow this down to people who answered both, then you have to add this question again. In the first instance of the question, simply select the first answer you want, in the second instance select the second answer you want, and so on. Each of these will then be treated as an AND condition. ie those submitters who ticked both "Anxiety/Depression" AND "Motivation"
- Repeat steps 1 & 2 as necessary, as you can select multiple questions.
Once you've finished getting your list of submitters, you can then choose what to do with them (see below in step 2).
Step 2 - Getting results from the built demographic
So, a demographic has been built - essentially just a list of survey submitters... You then get to choose what to do with them - which is basically 1 of 2 options
Please note that not all people answered all questions, even questions such as gender or age. Results are displayed accordingly
- You can either just get a raw number of the people you selected - this involves simply selecting the first option in the second drop down box of "Just return a total from above"
- or you get an answer distribution from the selected demographic to a single extra question. This again differs based on what question/answer type it is.
- Text answers: basically a list of the entered answers is output - one line per submitter.
- Multiple choice/single answer or multiple choice/multiple answer A percentage spread across the different answers is given, along with all relevant numbers so you can use them for your analysis.
